Physical Eduaction Essay Example for Free
Physical Eduaction Essay In societyââ¬â¢s struggle against the growing obesity epidemic and the rising number of health related illnesses, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure children are being taught the significance of participating in regular physical activity and to also attain an understanding of the different aspects of physical education. Physical education can be defined as the understanding, development and teaching of the sociological, physiological and psychological aspect within sport and physical activity. Physical education helps students develop social skills and understanding which will ultimately enable the student to become a positive member of society. Physical education also allows students to develop their own skills and knowledge of sports and physical activities, which in turn will help promote a healthy, active lifestyle and potentially provide future career opportunities. Physical education has the potential to make significant contributions to the education and development of children and young people in many ways. see more:physical education in the philippines Physical Education is the main institution for the development of physical skills in children and young people. Educational theorist Telama, has highlighted the idea that schools are the main environment for many children to be physically active, whether it is through physical education programs or after-school activities (Telama et al, 1997). The physiological benefits of Physical Education are well established. Regular participation in physical activities can help lead to a longer and better quality of life, reduced risk from a number of health related diseases and many psychological or emotional problems. Regular physical exercise can reduce the risk of hear disease, type two diabetes and high blood pressure while also helps in the prevention of weight gain and depression or anxiety (Wuest Fisette, 2012). Basic movement skills that are developed through Physical Education programs are the foundations of almost all sporting and physical activities. Booth suggests that ââ¬Ëthere is evidence that those who have developed a strong foundation in fundamental movement skills are more likely to be active, both during childhood and later in lifeââ¬â¢ (Okely et al, 2001). Motorlogical benefits can also be seen through Physical Education in the form of developing important movement skills, which are needed throughout day-to -day life. Such movement skills include: flexibility, agility, strength, speed and hand-eye coordination. Through a relevant and efficient Physical Education program, students have the potential to develop skills and technique, which may provide possible career pathways later in life. The sociological benefits of Physical Education provide students with the tools to become an active and influential member of society. Physical education theorist, Svoboda states that ââ¬Ënumerous studies have demonstrated that appropriately structured and presented activities can make a contribution to the development of pro-social behaviorââ¬â¢ (Shephard, 1997). Students who participate in physical education have the opportunity to develop important social skills while working in a collaborative environment; this is the fundamental for building and maintaining friendships and relationships through life. Evidence suggests the Physical Education has the potential to bring individuals from a variety of social and economic backgrounds together in a shared interest. This ultimately offers a sense of belonging to a team of club, provides the opportunity to develop values and competencies, and helps develop social networks (Bailey, 2005). Academic benefits and positive behavioral im provements can also be attributed to Physical Education. A study in France during the early 1950ââ¬â¢s found that children who participated in regular physical activity showed fewer disciplinary problems and had greater capacity for concentration. In more recent studies, evidence indicates that again these students showed positive behavioral improvements are now also showing improvements in academic performance (Shephard, 1997) In addition to the physiological and sociological benefits of Physical Education, students can also psychologically benefits from regular physical activity. Wuest and Fisette suggest that ââ¬Ëparticipation in exercise promotes positive thought and feelings. These serve to counteract negative thoughts and feelings as well as mood states associated with depression and anxietyââ¬â¢ (Wuest Fisette, 2012). Psychological benefits of participating in physical activity include: a reduced state of anxiety, improved mood and emotions, alleviating symptoms associated with mild depression and an improvement towards social interactions and relationships. A positive relationship between exercise and psychological states is clearly evident, with various research showing different explanations on how this relationship occurs. Physical Education is an imperative foundation in the development of all students. Physical Education provides the social and physiological constructs on how to not only become an active, connected member of society, but how to also lead a healthy and active life while reducing the risk of serious illnesses. Furthermore, in reducing the likelihood of developing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Physical Education also carries significant psychological benefits. Physical Education has the potential to make substantial contributions to the education, development and wellbeing of all students. In each area discussed; physiological, sociological and psychological, there is evidence that proves Physical Education can have a positive and profound effect.

Reconciling Injustice and Necessity: The Statesman in the Practical City :: Essays Papers
Reconciling Injustice and Necessity: The Statesman in the Practical City When Socrates builds up a ââ¬Å"city in speechâ⬠from ideals, he allows himself the option of overlooking the more distasteful features of real human cities simply by omitting them from the argument. His is a city whose primary purpose is to shed light on the soul of an individual, and its role as a metaphor allows it to contain logical conclusions which run wholly counter to the feasible practices of men. Aristotle permits himself no such luxury when he sets out to describe politics from the top down; he cannot overlook such thorny issues as slavery and empire because they exist as significant features in the constitutions of men and must be dealt with by statesmen, to whose needs Aristotle is particularly sensitive. Unlike Socrates, he cannot simply label these things unjust in the abstract and remove them from the ideal city. Aristotle, in his own description of an ideal constitution, is scrupulously practical, even when practicality prevents him from endorsing what would s eem to be the logical conclusions of his own arguments. His treatment of empire in the Politics, like his treatment of slaveryââ¬âempireââ¬â¢s small-scale cousinââ¬âreflects this ability to reconcile a concept of absolute justice to the inevitable injustices of political life. It is not immediately obvious what Aristotleââ¬â¢s verdict on empire is. The institution seems to simultaneously violate several of his premises for a good city and promote others, and Aristotle sets up a comparison of the arguments for both sides to address this tension. On the one hand, he perceives injustice in states whose sole purpose is to conquer their neighbors, and chastises statesmen who arbitrarily enslave others for ruling ââ¬Å"without regard to the right or wrong of what [he is] doingâ⬠(VII.ii.13) . He also praises the self-contained happiness of the isolationist state when he says, ââ¬Å"It is possible to imagine a solitary state which is happy in itselfâ⬠¦It will obviously have a good constitutionâ⬠(VII.ii.16). However, both these lines of reasoning are incomplete condemnations of empire. The first implies only that the statesman is ultimately accountable to right and wrong in his actions and must consider this standard in his decision-making, no t that imperialism is in itself always on the side of wrong. He sees the thorough isolationism of the ââ¬Å"solitary stateâ⬠as problematic as well, ending his description of it with, ââ¬Å"But it will have no regard to warâ⬠(VII. Entertainment Is Something Which Distracts Our Daily Life Routine Essay
What is entertainment? There are many definitions of entertainment but I look at it as something which diverts or may distract us from our daily life routine. It helps us relax for periods of time thus forget our worries and cares; our habits and thoughts are interrupted, it rests our minds and nerves, though it can also drain our energies thus exhaust our bodies (Herbert, 2012). There are multiple forms of entertainment that are in play nowadays that people find a good way to release themselves from the daily life routines. Entertainment has many forms that are endless but the main agenda is to divulge us from the daily patterns of life .In the resent generation people have been looking for better and easier ways to forge a living in a simpler manner, therefore making recreation or entertainment the most available solution to releasing them from never-ending stress and responsibilities in their daily lives (Herbert, 1946). Entertainment diverts our thoughts to moments of laxity and less care to our worries and anxieties. Our worries can either bring our heart and mind to a low or bring us to a high, in a sense that it brings an immeasurable amount of adrenaline or a low to mean laxity of mind and less activity of body. And this immense adrenaline definitely is brought about by sporting activities. Sporting activities make most of the body parts to actively participate therefore making us have the feeling of our existence within. Again in the present times technology has greatly evolved forcing humans to evolve with it. With this aspect involved, we are now encircled by smart phones, internet and all kinds of similar gadgets like television sets and iPods which have a considerable amount of our daily working life and entertainment of which we canââ¬â¢t imagine our entertainment or leisure time without. Everything that we are involved with at this age in time is all about entertainment as Tony Robbins puts it (Herbert, 2012) . Reading and writing has been a form of entertainment for many people. This is by books, magazines, blogs reading and writing in internet or paper. To the children reading of comics of heroes like Bat man, Super man and many others makes the happy and entertained. Also children as opposed to the adults who write; they find it entertaining to draw patterns and characters on paper. All this is educative and entertaining at the same time because it moves us from daily patterns of life while we are adding knowledge. Marshall McLuhan say that anyone who tries to make a distinction between education and entertainment doesnââ¬â¢t know a thing about either dance; music and films have found their way into peopleââ¬â¢s definition of entertainment and recreation (Herbert, 1946). A huge number of entertainment gadgets presently have to have music or visual images to be considered as items of entertainment. This is the other good way that recreation time can be well utilized. This is found in social joint like pubs, bars, disco etc. From my perception, our personalities can be defined by how we choose our entertainment activities e.g. If you are into parachuting you might be quite crazy, courageous and also an energetic person. But one who spends hours drawing, he or she might be a shy person, maybe calm and may also you be a patient person. Some entertainment forms may prove illogical e.g. ten people chasing after one ball but all in all each of us is unique in his or her own way thus we have what we like more us compared to other things. In conclusion entertainment does distract us from daily life routine because it soothes our feelings thus making us happy for we create our own worlds and forget about the rest of the world. Different entertainment activities create a longer period of happiness in turn causing continuous distraction.

Life in the Ghettos Controlling and Segret - 1328 Words
ââ¬Å"The Jews were convinced that it couldnââ¬â¢t get any worse. The truth is that, to the very end, every stage was more difficult and more terrible. The dynamics of this development are the essence of horrorâ⬠(Vashem, 2010). A ghetto is a part of a city where Jews were forced to live in horrendous conditions. Even though a ghetto was a transitional stage, it was still an atrocious place to be. The least of importance is what is ghetto and where did it originate. The term ââ¬Å"ghettoâ⬠originated from the name of the Jewish quarter in Venice, established in 1516, in which the Venetian authorities compelled the cityââ¬â¢s Jews to live (United States United Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2013). The creation of ghettos for Jews in Frankfurt, Rome, Prague, andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦We got our rations, we got our rations, but the rations were always shrinking you know. So food was the most important thing in the ghetto. The food was coming into the ghetto in bulk like flour for baking bread come in, come in bulk. And, uh, they had the bakers in the ghetto. Baker is the best job in the ghetto. Used to be to work in the bakery you had to pull strings to know somebody that could protect you to be able to work in a bakery because you could eat as much as you want you can eat. And some people got sick, for them to get to give to regain their strength to feel better, if you had to pull, you would get a job in a bakery. (Merrick, 2008) Not only was the life in a Ghetto difficult, it was also excruciating to survive in. The greatest of importance was how people survived in ghettos. The Jews were only permitted to take a few personal items with them to the ghetto, in the process being stripped of

The Electoral College Of The United States - 1621 Words
The Electoral College in the United States is not a place but a process. It was a process our founding fathers established in the Constitution. It is a complicated voting system that most citizens today do not understand. The Electoral College has been in place for well over two hundred years and is unfortunately showing its age. Most people believe that when they vote in a general election for the President, they truly believe they are voting for the president. This has shown to be the case many times in the past elections, but it has happened that the candidate who won the popular vote was not elected President by the Electoral College. The Process spelled out in the Constitution as written by our founding fathers known as the Electoral College needs to be replaced with a better method that truly represents the will and vote of the American people. The Constitutional Convention of 1787 considered several methods of electing the President, Including allowing the members of con gress, state Governors, state legislatures, and by direct election by the people (Staff, 2010). Because there was so many plans and thoughts on the process, a committee was formed which devised the Electoral College system. This plan received widespread approval by the delegates and was put in the final document. A Brief Note On Proximal Tibiofibular Joint Dislocation
Proximal Tibiofibular Joint Dislocation A proximal tibiofibular joint dislocation happens when the two bones of the lower leg (tibia and fibula) move out of place. This can happen because of injury or because of an underlying condition that weakens the bones. A break (fracture) of one or both of the bones can also happen with this injury. Symptoms usually resolve 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. CAUSES This condition may be caused by: â⬠¢ Injury. â⬠¢ Bone infection. RISK FACTORS This condition is more likely to develop in: â⬠¢ People who play sports. â⬠¢ People who are double jointed. SYMPTOMS Symptoms of this condition may include: â⬠¢ Pain in the outer knee and ankle. Pain may get worse when moving or putting weight on the leg. â⬠¢ Bruising and swelling around the knee or ankle. â⬠¢ Weakness of the leg. â⬠¢ Locking or catching of the knee. â⬠¢ A bump on the outer side of the knee. â⬠¢ Numbness or inability to move (paralysis) below the dislocation. DIAGNOSIS This condition is diagnosed based on a physical exam and your medical history. You may have X-rays to check for fractures. TREATMENT This condition is treated by having your bones moved back into place (reduction). This can be done manually, by your health care provider. If your dislocation is severe, you may need to have surgical reduction. After reduction, you should rest, ice, raise (elevate), and apply pressure (compression) to the injured area. Critical Issues of Business and Management
Question: Discuss about the Critical Issues of Business and Management. Answer: Introduction: The Australian retail industry has one of the largest amounts of employees; around 10.7% of the total working population are employed there. To examine the issues, regarding business and management, one has to assess the internal contextual factors that have an impact on a business decision making. In this essay, the Australian retail company Woolworths Limited, which is one of the key players of the industry, is critically analysed. The retail industry has always been competitive, which led to better access, lower prices and rapid improvement ("Woolworths Supermarket - Buy Groceries Online", 2016). Here, the essay analyses the emergence of the particular organization, the influence of the environment forces on the company, and the several risks related to a business in the light of the business practices of Woolworths Limited. Woolworth Limited is an extensive retail company in Australia that deals with the communities to attend sustainable livelihood, also provides the opportunities in empowering future generation. The first store of Woolworths was opened in 1924 in Sydney, as a basement outlet. Through the application of the right business policies, now it has a 31% market share and became one the largest supermarket chain in Australia. The company deals as a food, Petrol and Liquor Consumer and general commodities retailer and functions in the hospitality and graining region. There are over 800 stores and around 1, 90,000 employees to serve almost 13 million customers a day ("Woolworths Supermarket - Buy Groceries Online", 2016). The concerning aim of the company is to offer quality products in lower prices through the Quality Assurance Programme and by resourcing the majority of unprocessed materials from Australia and New Zeeland. The retail company has also expanded globally and it has joint venture agreement with an Indian superstore chain TATA and generated the sales revenue of $104 million in the financial year 2007-08 (Cant, Wild Sephapo, 2016) Woolworths is one of the few companies in the market that offers organic products to the consumer, and this company only has its nearest competitor Coles, and both controls 23% of the Australian market. The emergence of the retail company is due to few socio cultural developments affecting the awareness of the consumers. (Dwivedi et al., 2012) The influence of the internal and external environment has a deep impact on the companys work procedure. The impact can be illustrated with a SWOT Analysis, consists of the identification of the organization strengths, flaws, opportunities and threats both externally and internally, affecting the society in a large amount. The primary strength of Woolworths Limited is that, it is one of the pioneers in the retail industry and one of the oldest one to introduce the modern trade model, therefore, it is a well-known name on a global basis. It also deals with well-accepted brands like, Lady Bird, Chad Valley. Woolworths also operates several subsidiaries like Entertainment UK. The resources of the company is influenced by the external situation that implements a minimized Carbon Footprint and finds cost efficient ways to reduce packaging and achieved zero food wastage by 2015 ( Arli et al., 2013) Besides the strengths of the retail company, Woolworths also has few weaknesses that affect the ability of dominating the Australian market. The Australian Government restricted its movement to keep the higher price of the goods in association with Coles. This is the most important weakness, the brand has, in support with its higher development levels (Holt, 2013) The major opportunity with Woolworths Limited is that, the retail industry is a blooming one across Australia and has a good development potential. The factors like advances in supply management, computerisation, and consumer lifestyle have an effect on the abilities of the retailers and leads to better opportunities to expand in the market. Woolworths has already initiated few strategies of retailing to cope up with the changing requirements of the consumers (Cant et al., 2016). The threats that may hinder the Woolworths Group are the increasing costs of the raw materials from both food and non-food may have an adverse impact on the profit margin of the company. The economic recession may also hold back the overall growth policy of opening more stores; neck-to-neck competitions by other international companies like the Coles Supermarket, TESCO, ALDI, WALMART, Macro Wholefoods Ltd, etc. The major threat to Woolworths is the expansion of low-priced supermarkets such as Aldi and the escalation of other large international rivals (Zutshi et al., 2016). ALDI has more than 10 percent but Woolworthss is still ahead with its profit margin of greater than 5 percent in food and liquor. The rival companies have been operating in these markets for a long time and so it is obvious that there will be further margin pressure and price-cuts within the retail industry in Australia (Shine Lee, 2015). The Risk and Compliance Committee of Woolworths Group provides assistance to the board in ensuring that the management body has an effective risk management process acknowledge the company in an incorporated manner. The management is responsible for identifying and managing risks. Management forums are established to ensure that the management with proper and efficient skills and experience deals with the risks. The Group has formulated its 3-years growth strategy based on the new Lean Retail operating model. The program concentrates on three essential areas developing customers and market shares, improving efficiency and its cost position (Santos, Padin Hogvold, 2015). Woolworths revised its value and price strategy which involves lower pricing, improved ranging, new strategy for improving its own brands and improved offers to customers so that they put Woolworths first. In order to retain its position in the market, Woolworths has established a new segment namely, Woolworths Food Co. This new division is under the responsibility to develop categories of fresh and new products, improve the supply of fresh meat and improve the processing facilities, and rebuilding relationship with the primary industry partners of Woolworths Group. One of the strategies of Woolworths is to redecorate 8- of its stores per annum for the future. The refurbishment shall be designed based on the preferences of the customers and priority shall be given to areas where the customer potential is the maximum (Rollins, 2014). Woolworths Group has announced that its food strategy would enhance the existing strength of the company as the largest domestic online retailer in Australia and New Zealand. The online pricing has been associated with store pricing and locations will be established for the dive-through for the better convenience of the customers. The companys investment in the customer offer will be based on the cost management policies ( Methner, Hamann Nilsson, 2015). The use of advanced and greater technology and innovative offers shall make shopping more convenient and enjoyable for the customers. The company promised that by implementing the 3-years strategy plan it will be able to serve all customer sections with the aid of multi-channel approach. This will ultimately help the company to make decisions according to the tastes and preferences of the customers. The organisations need sustainable development to survive in the competitive market. The prime factor of sustainable development is, having a vast range of product, which will do justice to the brand image of the company. The company Woolworths Limited has a broad chain and brand under them, which shows that they have a good organisational structure. The organisational structure includes Woolworths Online, Safeway, Food for Less, Flemings, Thomas Dux Grocer and Macro Whole foods (Holt, 2013). The company has also diversified its production in Liquor, Petrol, Hotels, General Merchandise and daily services (Cant, Wild Sephapo, 2013). Woolworths has become the renowned superior market chain in Australia because of its acquirement and the capability of expanding the business. In a recent analysis it is seen that it hold a share market of 31% (Dwivedi et al., 2012). Woolworths having various brands and diversified organisations under them but its supermarket industry returns back the mos t revenue in terms of sale. It has a vast area of expansion of organisations that make the geographic coverage wide. Woolworths has 3200 stores opened in Australia and New Zealand. 80 of those supermarkets are running in Australia and 156 supermarkets are running in New Zealand (Arli et al., 2013). In the fiscal year 2011, Woolworths Earning before paying Income tax was around $3.3 billion. This analytical data suggested that Woolworths is financially stable, consistent and strong which made them the top class organisation in the world (Jie, Parton Chan, 2013). In Australia, retail is not a smart industry centre as it is highly competitive and has low profit. Woolworths still manages to have a sales growth around 10.7% due to its planned business model and great functionality of management (Lewis Huber, 2015). Woolworths through its organized process of business has widely expanded its business amongst its customer and suppliers. The company worked according to its strength and integrated multiple activities in an inventive ways. Woolworths emphasized on flexible operations by combining and coordinating the multiple activities. The company aims on providing innovative product, which helps them to achieve the growth in a highly competitive market. Woolworths laid emphasis on keeping the commitments to its customer and have goodwill with them (Rollins, 2014). They also have the employee satisfaction and can retain the experienced employees, which helps them to achieve the desired growth. The main reason behind the growth and getting hold of the market is having the policy of Fair price, which increases the footfall of the customers in their supermarkets. Woolworths should imply correct steps for support and skilled employees by adding personal development training for them (Arli et al., 2013). The company has certainly good growth in terms of sales and earnings revenue but it should have an objective to implement listening, thinking, acting process, which increases more satisfaction for the customers (Rollins, 2014). This learning process helps to develop innovative ideas in attaining the customer satisfaction. Woolworths certainly have the best policies for attaining growth in a competitive market but it should lay more emphasis on employee satisfaction and development.
